I studied painting at Wayne State University in Detroit. I think of my paintings as a type of portraiture. I am usually inspired by black and white photographs and magazine clippings. Something about a person’s photo captures my attention and leads me to draw conclusions about who they were or the emotions they might have been feeling at that moment. I then begin to create a composition or new environment around that person. My paintings are meant to tell a story or to evoke an emotion.

In addition to painting, I enjoy the challenge of designing books. My current book project is the design and illustration of an Armenian language textbook of over 300 pages, which has been written by my mother. I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan with my husband, Leonardo.

In February 2010 I created 20 paintings in 20 days for a fundraiser for kids at the Ann Arbor Art Center. Watch this video produced by Muse Pictures.
